Wedding at Raffles Town Club

As usual, so many things to do and yet no time for blogging.

Time now – 10.32pm, I better finish this entry before 11pm so that I can go to bed.

Have to skip some entries which happened earlier first..as I wish to update the wedding dinner I attended last nite with mum and 2nd brother. If not, I will take 1 hr to write n QA.

21st April 07

Met my poly group of friends yesterday. Finally see Shirley with a bigger tummy as she is 4 months pregnant. The last time I see her, she is only about 1 month pregnant.
Shirley, don’t worry lah, even with a bigger tummy, you still look pretty okie. :p

After that, go for wedding dinner at Raffles Town Club. This is the 2nd time that I am here again after 4 months. We are invited by our aunt as her granddaughter G (let's just call her G, as I don't want a google search to appear my blog) is getting married.

Raffles Town Club is a extremely good place for hosting a wedding dinner as the ballroom’s ceiling is high and the place looks posh. Food not bad lah, still consider nice. They even decorate the stage nicely with a pavillion filled with flowers and crystals decorations. nice! nice! :o) i like it.

G even asked her friends to put up the parents, grandparents’s (which is my aunt n uncle) photos and of course genine n hubby’s daily life photos….so special. Guests can stand there n see during the cocktail session before going in. the folks did this till midnight and still haven’t sleep…. It simply shows genine is a great person that her friends/cousins are willing to do everything for her.

The most touchest part is all my aunt’s granddaughters n grandsons did a special performance for G by singing on the stage. Can’t deny it do sounds like a secondary school choir…..but who cares man, the number 1 thing you can feel is the sincerity, love and blessing from them to her. A few are already grow up….guess more than 20 yrs old, and yet they join all the teenagers, kids and sing. I am so touched… wow, I think this is the first in Singapore where all the grandchildren join forces n sing for their cousin … i know they must have spend a lot of effort in rehearsing.

Then it dawned on me how aunt and uncle bring up her children and in turn bring up better grandchildren. Aunt’s character is like my dad (they are brother n sister mah), she got a nice and kind temperament and don’t anyhow scold people. I believe even she scold, she will make them understand. Hence, her children grow up to be good people…and this in turn bring up good grandchildren. Yes they have to bring their children to aunt’s house every Sat….this is where the grandchildren grow up together….

I also blur lah.. I saw aunt’s “children” are like wat.. 40, 50 yrs old already.. don’t know how to address them too….cannot address uncle also… but they know my name Annie lah. There is one of them, seldom see him….maybe see him like once in 5 yrs..... .he still remember my name is Annie.. I was so surprised… later I found out his wife also call Annie.. aiyah .. no wonder lah.

Wa, and her grandchildren…so many….total add up more than 10 … next time better don’t bounce on the street or wat… very blur….. we also don’t know we are relatives… hahaa… I can remember only a few distinctive faces….the rest…blur … o_O

In the midst of the dinner, I walk over to aunt n uncle side…. Aunt keep asking when is my turn….she ask like XX times already… she ask is it this year…? I say impossible…..i said maybe next year or next next year(?)…..she was like ‘So late….’….n said better be fast……. I go home n feel extremely upset today….. … I know aunt’s health not good.….she already 70plus yrs old….everyday got to inject a injection for her sickness….. I also know she seriously want to attend my wedding dinner before….sigh… *touch wood*…I also know aunt n uncle dotes me a lot….well, esp after dad is gone….they always concern when I have boyfriend or wat. Just hope her health will good. Uncle is blind….n he needs aunt’s help always to walk around.

G’s friend did a solo singing performance…sing lots of love songs (??!!)….his friend play the guitar…err…..this one must really comment..his singing is real bad. Brother said he nearly got a headache after 5 songs. I took the opportunity to go toilet after his 3 songs… thought he could have stop singing n he still sing n sing. But anyway, nevermind lah, nobody cares much after that too.... most importantly, everyone is in a joyous mood. :o)

As i said again, youngsters are full with fresh n new ideas. The dessert is not served out the banquet ballroom, but at the foyer, which is just outside the ballroom. Everyone have to go outside to witness the cake cutting ceremony. After that, all the guests take the fruits, chocolates, mango dessert themselves like buffet style at the foyer. It is very crowded (nearly 390 ppl taking turns to help themselves at the desserts) but still manageable…. The event ended after 11pm…

G also didn’t take photos at every table. Funny right? At one point of time, I heard the videoman n photograph man kinda of loss for a second and say “so where are we needed now?”….cos the guy on the stage is still singing… G n hubby are not taking group photos at every table… so I guess the videoman n photograph are not extremely busy if compared to other weddings.

This is the first time I attended a wedding dinner where the groom n bride never take photo on every table. Clever couple. They choose to take group photos are the foyer. I ask the mum n she said...she don't know too...she said...ai yah ..they all young ppl...let them do what they want..

That is why I say…youngsters (those younger than me lah) are really different nowadays. Her wedding is a combination between traditional and modern. Interesting.

Her whole wedding is very boisterous, which I like it…..G is young....think 23yrs old only..…still got her crowd of campus friends n young relatives to boost up the event..…good. A wedding should be like this, you can feel the warm n boisterous from the audience….everyone is having fun and happiness is filled around. Good to know their hard work and preparation have paid off for everything to run smoothly. conclusion : well done and extraordinary wedding to remember.

Hopefully my one will be like this in the future… heheee..
